The story revolves around a single father, Shiv (Abhishek Bachchan), and his 8-year-old daughter Dhara (Inayat Verma). Dhara dreams of participating in the country's biggest Dance reality show. Shiv disapproves of this initially but agrees later. The twist in the tale comes when Dhara is suffering from bone cancer, and how a father fulfills his daughter's wish.
Review
The movie follows the same pattern that other dance movies follow. The movie starts decently, portraying a heart-warming relationship between a father and a daughter that looks cute and connects really well with the audience. On a vise versa. The movie reminds me of many movies like Ferrari Ki Sawari and Kal Ho Na Ho, like a depiction of a father-son relationship, but the way all these set up.
Such movies are entirely mounted on a wish, and the journey of fulfillment that plays a decisive role in the development of the screenplay will definitely appeal to the audience on a vice versa the screenplay runs at its own pace. In a movie like this, the climax is clear as water, but despite this, the movie still manages to connect with its audience because the movie doesn't lose its grip. On vise versa, those who have seen movies like Kal Ho Na Ho and Anand may miss the freshness in the plot.
The movie is highly dependent on father-daughter relationships, and it is shown well too, along with their journey, including their love, problems. All these are showcased in a well-defined manner, and the drama shown in the movie is impactful. On the other hand, the movie is totally class-oriented in the way the movie is presented and set up will definatly appeal to the audience in metropoltion cities.
As a member of the audience, I found some flaws in the screenplay. There are many scenes in the movie when Dhara is suffering in pain, but Shiv ignores that. I mean, how can a father be irresponsible like this? Well, it's not such a big deal.
Acting Performances
In Terms of Acting. Abhishek Bachchan is quite an underrated actor, but he delivered yet another fantastic performance. What problems does a single father face, his daily life as a father, his responsibility, frustration, he has shown all this very well in his acting, which showcases a shows a significant growth of his as an actor.
After Abhishek Bachchan, this review is incomplete without mention of the cute and adorable Inayat Verma, who will definitely win hearts with her cuteness. She is not only a daughter of her father, but sometimes she has to fill the boots of her mother too, but it was nice to watch her.
In the Rest of the cast. The movie also has veteran actor Nasser, who delivers a sincere performance. In Fact, it is Nasser who has the maximum screentime after Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat. Other than that, the movie also has Harleen Sethi and Johnny Lever.
Technical Aspects
Conclusion
To summarize, Be Happy is a decent movie with an exceptional performance by Abhishek Bachchan and a beautiful depiction of a father-daughter relationship with small ifs, but can easily be ignored.
